Near me are Sanders BBQ and Afro Joes. Both are great. Looking forward to trying out Soul Food Lounge on Valentines day. Really want to try Lior’s.

Thanks for the reminder! Hopefully I’ll be able to check some of these out this weekend!

Not sure if this counts, but Ravinia’s taproom reopened as a joint venture between their rebrand as Steep Racine and Moor’s Brewery, which is black owned. The bar is now called Diversey House. Went there this weekend. I had the jerk chicken, and while I’m no connoisseur, I thought it was quite tasty!

I saw a great story about Bistro on Sterling in Flossmoor. Hope to try it out this week!

Wanted to give a huge shout-out to South Loop Farmer’s Market — which runs Saturdays (Roosevelt Collection) and Sundays (Water Tower Place) — for featuring so many excellent Black-owned businesses. Goddess Good Food makes the best gluten-free pizzas (hot ‘n ready and frozen), Joibulee has dozens of fun popcorn flavors, Dani’s Juice is so refreshing, and Kikuwetu has refillable jugs of cold brew for the coffee lovers in your life. Bonus: Femme Rituals has the best and longest-burning incense ever.
