There is a variance in opinion as to whether it’s white or red meat, however it’s cooked like a red meat (can be eaten medium rare), even though it is technically a white meat/breast meat.

Well last time i checked ducks are birds and birds are “white meat” and cows/lambs etc are red meat

I mean it’s Fowl so technically white? It’s just, like dark meat chicken there is heavier fats in certain areas.

    (USDA Definition)
Red meat = Mammals, more myoglobin
    White meat = Birds

Ducks are red in my book while I consider pork to be white (even though it’s not.)

I blame “growing up in the 70s where trichinosis was a thing and pork turned into shoe leather and was wallpaper-paste white.

I’d consider it red because you can cook it to your liking instead of a strict 165 like chicken.

I like red wine with. This looks top tier by the way.

Genuine question…. Why would it matter?

Trying to find an appropriate wine pairing? Trying to lump it into a healthy vs unhealthy category? Trying to stick to a specific “white/red meat only” diet?

Regardless what it’s classified as, it looks so good and I’m jealous.

Isn’t meat & poultry two different types?
