WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT)—The Pine Valley Methodist Church is once again serving thousands of meals this Christmas Eve to be delivered to shelters, nursing home facilities, recovery houses, and emergency services stations.
Anyone who needs a hot meal is invited to the church to pick up meals as early as 8:30 a.m. Those attending church can also join in on meal time at 6 p.m.
The ministry began when two parents wanted to show their children the meaning of giving during he Christmas season in 2006, with George Hale finding the Pine Valley’s Christmas Outreach. In the first year, they served 250 meals.
Hale says that he can make an example of the core principles and values of the season.
“The world would be a better place if everybody thought about someone else besides themselves for one minute and that idea is pretty impactful,” George Hale said.
