Now that’s what I call a valid flex. I would devour that personally. More dessert for you!

It’s a shame people didn’t appreciate it but for me “looks store bought” sounds like a compliment! Meaning it’s done so neatly as if it was professionally made. In any case, the cake looks amazing!

  4. Oh my gosshhh this looks amazing. I just know so much labor went into it. I wish I could taste lol

  5. Wow! This looks amazing! Take it as a compliment that people thought it’s store bought. Also, now there is more left for you!

Why do people post so tasty stuff, then I get the mood to eat it 🥲

This looks fantastic! What are the different components? What kind of compote is that on top?

Without this cake, they say, “Beautiful, attractive.”

Well then, you now know not to bother baking for them. I wish I had a piece, it looks so tasty.
Plus, even if it was a box mix so what? It still took time and effort. I keep box mixes from King Arthur flour in my pantry for last minute “I want something or hubby does.” I usually have the ingredients. Of course I scratch bake but, that takes planning and the grocery store is 30 minutes away. In good weather.

He used to be so impressed when he’d get up to a plate of baked donuts at the coffee maker. He couldn’t believe I’d spend all that time after he went to bed to make him treats. Then I told him to get a mix out, takes about 15 minutes lol.

Food52 has a recipe for spider cake, made with cornmeal. The last step is pouring a cup of heavy cream before going in the oven. It turns into a custard filling. So easy hubby can handle it.

Looks delicious and if they thought it was store bought, I’d take that as a compliment 🙂 Can I ask what kind of cake it is

  12. Good, that means you can eat it all by yourself, tell them to hands off. It looks delicious!

As long as they ate it and they liked it. The proof is in the pudding or in this case the cake! Looks fantastic! Great job!

9h my gosh, it’s beautiful! Great job! How did it taste?! Os that mango? What flavors are in this masterpiece?

  17. This sounds a lot like “people didn’t gush as much as I wanted them to”.

Incredible job, OP. I see it as an unintended/hidden compliment that it was regarded as store-bought.

I’m gonna call it….Ashley’s Cake! So original I know lol.

It looks fabulous! I’m going to make it once I get some cream cheese.

When your skills are so good, they look store-bought.
