After a 4 day dining tour in Bangkok, I came to the conclusion that Reddit is actually the best place for restaurant recommendations, everyone was recommending ore and it turned out to be the best dining experience of my life as well as Sorn that was really perfect, i should have also listen to the comments and skip le du and jay fai, I didn’t even rate Jay fai as most of the food was inedible. There is 3 pictures from each tagged restaurant.
ORE
The whole experience matches the praise Ore has received here – unforgettable, inimitable, high caliber dining, but with a friendly, approachable ambience and a remarkable sense of place.without spoiling anything, the ingredients are so specifically sourced that you could have this meal nowhere else on earth, even if the same chef was attempting to recreate it himself.
I did the cocktail pairing to enjoy the all- Thai spirits and it didn't disapppoint either. If you're a spirits geek at all, worth considering. I also had some champagne by the glass which was quite nice.
32 courses and not a single "meh" item.
The best dining experiences I have ever had, very moving for someone who is into this specific form of dining.
Final Grade: 10/10
SORN
For sure the best Thai food I ever had. Excellent service but very robotic to the point it got annoying towards the end. Apart from the service hiccups the food was a 10/10 even though it was extremely spicy. All ingredients were sourced from Thailand and most of them presented before every course and it upscaled the whole experience. The presentation of the main course was messy in a way for 3* restaurant but still tasted amazing. We did choose 2 bottles from their wine list to go with our food, but it was tough to pair any wine with that food, and they let us take the second bottle that was almost full, home with us. Will definitely return back if I have the chance to get a booking again.
Final Grade: 9/10
Samrub Samrub Thai
Underwhelming experience for a restaurant for this caliber and fame. The flavors were definitely traditional and unique and most of them also very enjoyable but there were way too many fried dishes that were too oily for my liking. We really loved the soup that was served with the main course but we were very full at that point to enjoy anything as the amount of fried dishes and coconut cream, really stuffed us. For reference, this was the revisit, rethink, recreate seasonal menu.(as they change menus every 2 months)
Ambiance is somehow stale and feels like a restaurant from the 90s. They could definitely use a new restaurant space in my opinion. Service is very nice and welcoming as the chef and his wife were present and really kept the mood going in the dining room.
Final grade: 7,5/10
Le du
Or as someone wrote when i was asking for recommendations Le don’t. Overall, a disappointing experience. We had optimistic expectations because of its world ranking. While none of the dishes were offensive or bad per se, they were underwhelming. We liked the pork dumpling and squid salad, but subsequent dishes were only okay. Worryingly, I found a strand of hair in one of the dishes. The river shrimp is their signature dish, which was apt given its flavour was merely underwhelming too. The constant turnaround of waiters felt distracting and impersonal. Wine pairing was pleasant. Overall, there are much better restaurants in Bangkok and I would definitely not return.

I was Le Don’t guy and if it makes you feel better I ignored the advice too.
I agree 100% with that list, I would maybe rate samrub a bit higher than a 7,5 but everything else is pretty much on point. Ore is a special project
Thank you so much. So so have both SORN and Ore booked for next week. Need one other must visit.
Totally agree with everything here (except Ore because I haven’t been). Now I need to go- hoping for better than Sorn sounds awesome.
In my opinion ore was such a special meal, that I could barely compare it with anything else in the city or anything else I had anywhere around the world. It was definitely the most special and also maybe one of the best meals of my life. But I could also see someone who is into more traditional dining to leave the restaurant confused, since it’s very forward pushing
Wholeheartedly agree that this sub gives the best fine dining recommendations. I tried Solbam & Eatanic Garden in Seoul and the experience is amazing.
