Honestly it took me a while to come around to, since tofu is pretty bland on its own but I gotta say…. Cold tofu rocks!! I tried it at a restaurant recently and wanted to try giving it a low cal homemade approach!
It’s super simple, just plop a block of silken tofu on a plate and top with green onions and a sauce! On its own the tofu is only 134 calories, and the sauce was just a mishmash of things in my fridge! But boy did it taste nice!
It’s good when you’re wanting something quick and plain, replicates the vibe of sauce on a carb without the high cals!
I used…
– 300grams of Silken tofu by Macro Wholefoods Market
– 11 ml Salt reduced soy sauce by Asia Specialities
– 20grams green onions
– 32 grams of Slow cook beef & red wine casserole sauce by Masterfoods
– 4ml Premium oyster sauce by Chef's Choice Oriental (I ran out, otherwise I would’ve used more!!)
– 4ml Umami Black Garlic Sauce (very strong)
– 5 ml 0 cal sweetener (to offset the soy)
– salt to taste (I used some fancy kelp salt I got recently, makes it look nicer)
– some garlic spice as well (if you like that stuff)
But honestly you could get by with the classic combo of soy and oyster sauce!
