I’ll just give my pov on this for those who are worried about using. We got a a new propane tank from a 7/11 that has new ownership. We know they changed out the propane supplier but didn’t do any research from the company. 2/5 star company with flaws in development. The connection between the tank and the hose were not tight. We can assume it’s the company that’s new but technically no way to prove that. It could have been webers hose. What we know is there was most likely a gas leak from the tank that got up into the open flames carrying the fire back to the tank. Thankfully out neighbor is a wonderful firefighter and he didn’t take 3 second to hop into action he came over with the goods, his jacket, extinguisher and fire blanket. the grill wall close to the house and he moved it away.

Glad you are safe! And I hope you find out the cause

Jesus. This really puts the hole I burned through my deck with a stray piece of lump into perspective.

I mean it’s only by sheer luck I didn’t have a fire on my hands. But I’ll take my close call over a nut punch from a propane tank any day.

Just remember that this gas is also in your fridges, freezers and AC units.

Manual says check for leaks each time…

You’re certain the connection was secure? You can knock the company that produced the cylinder (they didn’t, it’s most likely recycled), but it didn’t explode, it released the way it should’ve.

Hope you’re OK dude. This is my greatest fear w grilling on gas. Not likely I know, but it freaks me out severely.

I’ll be a charcoal man forever.
