Foreword : I have excellent friends. I spent three months wine budget in one night and am now stuck drinking Albariño until May. The four of us ordered 11 bottles, it took us six hours, we shared with the dining room and the sommes. I got no hangover and i have no regrets. On to the notes.
Sellose 2012 – wonderfully brightly oxidativeish. Ultra yeasty baked cinnamon apple thing. We nearly emptied eastern France of their Sellose back in September and I regret not having more of it then because this stuff just slays the budget in the states. King of 2012. 98
Kalin cellar’s Chardonnay 1981. – bright, rich, clean and completely put together. It’s got this old honey lemon drop butterfinger thing. Possibly the last bottle. WWotn. 97
Domaine selections J F C D Meursault 2006 – Secret coche? I dunno the story. I know it’s the white I saved till the end. I drank the kalin too fast. It’s so wonderful. It’s like a zipper and orange oil. Honeysuckle too. Was a treat with octopus and lime. 96
PYCM Saint Aubin 1er cru les champlots 2014 – so young and bright still. A bit Reductive but opening up, it’s got an underlying almondy salinity that’s just killer. Big minerally/oyster shell character. This can go a while longer. 92
Cecille Tremblay Bourgogne Le croix blanche 2011 – I love these wines and to see one reasonably priced outside of France was a treat. Super Vosney. Toasty spicy cinnamon and orange peel, fleety and light, no real tanins but surprisingly long rich finish. 92
Roumier Chambolle Musigny 2005 – this was my red of the night. I wanted to like the Dujac more but the flowers leaping out of this were magnificent. Cherries and plums on the pallete and just a squinch of sous bois towards the last sip. Marvelous. 94
Voguë 1er cru Amoureuse 2015 – (not pictured, I can’t figure out how to do the gallery thang) we had this last with the colgin for dessert and it’s a Titan. I wasn’t sure what people meant when they said a wine was monolithic but i know now. It’s these two. The biggest fattest pinot i’ve ever had. It’s sacrilegious to mention that godless grape from bordeaux but I got a Cabby cassise quality in there. Definitely one to hold on to for the next forty to thousand years. 96
Dujac Echazaux 2013 – anise, clove, orange, tea and magic. Not all at once, but all intermittently over six hours. 96
Colgin ix 2009 – Monolith. Drink in one hundred years. Insanity density. I’ve had a few crazy cabs but not like this. Tasted blind. I guessed high altitude vaca mountain fruit from an excellent producer 15ish years young and im pretty happy with that. These berries must be more like little pebbles to be this dense. Not for me but if you’re into it’s probably a 100.
Some kinda Prum family riesling from the 80’s. Riesling and steak is an ultimate pairing and a spicy, fatty au poivre with an old Riesling is just the business. No diesel but to be honest i dont remember it well. I gave half the bottle to a couple that according to me at the time “looked like they needed to fuck each other”

Congrats! Been fortunate to have a few nights like that and, while the wine is always great, the company is what makes it special.

How can we become friends?
I need to start a wine club like this
Selosse is my pick!
