Opened this bottle of 2016 frappato today in a menu pairing tasting. We have dubbed it the “anti cab”
With some age this one is really great. It would pair nicely in the same way a heavier, aged white would.

Another interesting red grape from Sicily! After Etna Rosso this can give most satisfaction to Pinot Noir lovers

Love love love Arianna’s wines. I also think in terms of south east Sicilian wines she’s miles ahead of everyone.
With time I’ve had the chance to try pretty much all of them and In my humble opinion while the SPs are good I find the single vineyard frappatos offer much better value.
They’re precise refined and elegant and similarly to this post I can attest that they do get better with time which given the characteristics of frappato is on the surprising side.
Worth seeking out.

Just drank this the other day – same vintage too. It’s really in a great place right now. Really beautifully balanced – more structured than Il Frappato and a bit more brooding, but still has that refreshing acidity throughout. I last drank the 2016 BB in 2021 and was not as impressed then.
I still have a PT and an FL in my cellar and will likely drink them this year.

Love her Il Frappato!

Those Occhipinti’s are all really tasty. I’ve brought them out for friends and family before and they generally go over well even with a less wine-centric crowd.

How does it compare with age to new bottles on release? I have tucked a bunch of Occhipinti away to gain some bottle age but have yet to find anything with more than a year or two of age compared to the new releases on the market.

The Rosso SP68 was my intro to Arianna and her Wines some years back, always been meaning to try this one. Cheers

Lamoresca makes the best frappato on the fucking planet. Everything they make is buy-on-sight for me.
