  1. I was in Porto wanted to try the pastry, queued for 40 mins to get in Majestic Cafe to try the famous pastry.. well, my personal opinion – disappointing- too sweet🥴🥴

  2. I was just in Belem last week and have to agree! Perfectly flaky, creamy, and not too sweet. The cinnamon also elevates the pastel!

  3. Man
I went last week to Pasteis de belém, and let me tell you them served me some old pasteis de nata ! The custard was horrible, It felt like a rock.
As a portuguese I feel ashamed they did such thing.

  4. Next year we gonna have indian pastel de nata stay tunned , we are gettin invaded by those parasites

  5. JUST GOOGLE BEST 2024 pastéis de nata, and don’t fall in this tourist trap. Judging a place by their cue in the most touristic places in Portugal it’s pathetic in this days

  6. Nr 3 and nr 2 are good pastéis de nata chains stores (not sure is franchises). Nr 1 is the mother house tharlt bought the recipe from the monks in the monastery across the street.

  7. Every time i eat one it feels like its the first time im trying, even tho im portuguese xdd. Glad you're enjoying 🙂

  8. As a Portuguese(from Lisbon) i must say it, we do always underestimate Pasteis de Belem! But to be honest they're always the ones to come to mind when we think who makes them best (in my humble opinion, as a Pasteis de Belem lover)
I'd say we always try to think of better pasteis de nata before admitting these are The ones

  9. most pleb list i’ve ever seen. if you’re reading this, go to pastelaria cristal or boutique doce in Lapa and Estrela. not this dumbass tourist list.

  10. Without a doubt, one of the best pastries of Portugal, but you are riding on the story of the "pastéis de Belém" to attract customers.
They are made exactly the same way as the other ones as they are known as "conventual" pastries with recipes ranging across the whole country as they were made mainly by nuns who shared it between themselves whenever they visited other convents.
This is one of the reasons you'll find it pretty much everywhere in PT, from the North to the South, but there are many more like that, for instance the "ovos moles" from Aveiro…

  11. Hi, I’m from Porto, Portugal and I’ve to tell you my favourite pastel de nata is from Manteigaria and the second favourite is from Fábrica da Nata, so our top is close! But just one thing, the “pastel de nata” from “Pastéis de Belém” is actually not a pastel de nata, it is a pastel de Belém ! Pastéis de Belém have a more milky flavour and a denser filling than the Pastel de Nata and the legit ones are only produced there, in Belém. I personally preffer pasteis de nata as they are more lighter and in my opinion have a better flavour, but I’m glad you like our top top gastronomy! 🙂
Note: if you like this kind of pastry you have to try “leite creme”, is a typical portuguese dessert with a very similar taste as the filling of pastel de nata, it’s a creme brullé but better! 🙂
