So I was out of the country for about a month. I came back and I saw my Sweet Potatoes had something growing out of it! Decided to let it grow, this is what they look like about 3-4 months later! 😅

Do you have an aquarium? Place in standholds on the tank, grow the sweet potato plants

Let them develop leaves like the one on the bottom in your photo, then just snap the stalk off the sweet potato right where it’s coming out. Put that in some water until it roots. Once rooted, you can Harden it off and plant outdoors to grow your own sweet potatoes. There’s YouTube videos on it, I would watch a handful just to get the info without any bias. Good luck!

I generally snap them off at the base and put them in water. They’ll root quickly. When it is warm enough outside to plant  tomatoes and peppers, I tuck them into beds here and there.

You can eat the leaves like spinach. I tend to sauté them with eggs. They stick around when it gets too hot for spinach to grow.

As a bonus, you might even grow sweet potatoes under the soil. If not, the greenery is worth it!

Would make a great kitchen window plant….

Stick them in soil and they’ll grow faster especially in warm full sun!

Sweet potatoes are vines but don’t climb, you have to convince them to grow on a trellis or what not. Otherwise they just hang down and wander wherever they feel like it. Just so you know.

Each on of those nodes on the sprout will grow roots and start a plant. They’re called slips. Real easy to grow – just stick one of the slips in decent soil. They like hot weather and hate cold.
