This wine was a what the hell moment right before the close of an auction, $25 all in. Cork was pushed up and completely saturated. The Durand was made for moments like this. Cork came out in one piece and that wasn’t where the fun ended, this wine, while not profound, was incredible in its own right. Nice acidity, faded red currents and tobacco aromas with a little funk that blew off with time in the glass, on the palate it followed with with red fruits and sweetness, tannins have long melted  away, but this wine just keeps growing on me. Wish I could get this type of satisfaction for every $25 I spend on a wine, unfortunately that’s not generally the case. Potensac must have cost all of $6 back when this was released.

I love Napa, but there is often a lot more bang-for-the-buck out of Bordeaux.

When all the red flags are out and the wine overdelivers. Doesn’t happen often but when it does… it’s awesome!
