Finally replaced the factory daisy wheel on the BJ Classic. Before when it rained I would take an aluminum roasting pan and fold it over the cap to create a rain shield LOL. I heard about this company right here on this sub with high praises.
The factory felt lasted 4 years (which is pretty good imo). I scraped it off with a putty knife, then used a wire brush drill attachment to get any remaining fuzz off. Wiped with acetone and reapplied.
If the smokeware gasket lasts another 4 years I will be happy! Was only $18. Cap was $56ish (I think).
Happy Grilling y'all! ♨️

What’s the benefit? I bbq all the time in the rain and have never had an issue?
Nice job, looks great! I’ve been on the fence as to which I will replace my daisy wheel cap with. Sure like the looks of the Smokeware. I went with the mesh for the gasket.
1. I replaced my gasket with a mesh gasket and it’s much better than the felt.
2. IMO the daisy wheel is the best top vent out there.
I prefer the daisy wheel. I bought one for my classic and went back to the daisy wheel. Waste of $60 in my case
I think the Komand Tower and even the knock offs are better than the SW cap. It’s gonna get gross looking real soon, that little silicone nub is going to fall off and will be gone if it isn’t already. The thing gets so hot you’ll need something not your finger to adjust it. You have to bend over to see how open it is or isn’t. I have one, cheap, if anyone is interested. lol. You shouldn’t be. The biggest accessory regret I have for any grilling product.
I have this same one. When that black nub eventually rots or falls off, be careful adjusting when the grill is hot. I use the grate scraper or my tongs to adjust if need be.
