With Love, Meghan is set in Montecito, California, where Markle and her husband Prince Harry reside—however, the majority of the show was actually not filmed at their home. Rather, according to Town & Country, production rented out the $8 million farmhouse mansion owned by the couple’s neighbors. There were a few scenes filmed at Markle’s home, which mainly were the scenes filmed in their backyard and chicken coop.

Throughout the eight episodes, viewers watch Markle garden and cook as she shares her top tips for each, as well as host and entertain some of her famous friends like Mindy Kaling. Some of her tips she shares in With Love, Meghan include how to make pickled strawberries, take-home dog treats, a harvest basket, homemade coffee creamer and, what we’re diving into below, homemade bath salts.

Some viewers are taking to social media to say they don’t like the show because it’s not relatable and feels “out of touch.” Others have shared that they really enjoyed the series and the tips the Duchess shared throughout, and some have said they like that it’s a bit of an escape from reality.

Bath soaks have been around for decades, offering an easy way to treat yourself to a little TLC and indulge in self-care. Markle seems to be a fan of the pampering treatment as well, as she shared in With Love, Meghan how she likes to put bath salts out for her guests in the bathroom for them to take a relaxing soak.

She showed herself making the bath salt mixture, which included arnica, lavender and pink Himalayan sea salt, which she then stored in a Mason jar. While we’re all for going the DIY route and creating an at-home bath soak recipe, experts are urging even more in rise of With Love, Meghan how important it is to make your bath salt recipe safely.

Bath salts can be a soothing way to unwind after a long day or stressful week, but while they can have many benefits, they also can cause serious harm if not made right. Creating your bath soak is not as simple as just throwing in some lavender essential oil to your water and calling it a day. Essential oils, including lavender and arnica, which were included in Markle’s recipe, are highly concentrated and need to be diluted first.

As a general rule of thumb, experts say it’s a good idea to dilute 1-2 drops of essential oil with 8-10 drops of a carrier oil (like coconut oil) before adding it to your bath. Also, experts urge people to do a patch test before adding your bath salt mixture to your bath. To do this, simply apply a small amount of your diluted essential oil to a patch of skin and wait 24 hours to see if there is any reaction.
