I built a simple web app where you can vote on pasta shapes by picking between two options at a time. The rankings update live based on win rate (successes vs total matchups).

If you’re interested in seeing which pasta comes out on top, or just want to click on your favourites, give it a try

  1. Spent a few min answering the quiz, I have a few things to point out though;

The bell noise is ear shattering with no way to lower it or turn it off as far as I could tell (muted the tab in the end)

You don’t seem to have made a distinction between the rigate versions and normal versions of the pastas; The main 1 I noticed of this sort is penne. Rigate means ridged, and refers to the ridges on the pasta like how the rigatoni in the picture you used has. It makes a very big difference the texture of the pasta in your mouth as well as how it holds the sauce, to the point where you would use penne and penne rigate differently. To the point where they’re typically considered as distinct to one another.

I could have just not come across em obv, but it would be nice if you added celentani, pastina and couscous to the list. I get there are like 100s of pasta shapes, but I feel like these ones are fairly common.

It’d also be really fun if you could see your personal results isolated out to see your “one and only” sorta thing. Not sure how you have your back end set up, so no clue as to how easy that would be to sort out, plus I dont know how much more time you’d wanna spend on a fun lil project like this. But I love the idea <3

I think including filled pastas muddies the results. I can’t compare agnolotti and rigatoni. Or spaghetti and manicotti. Those are different foods, not different shapes.

    Linguine

I crave just linguine and will create an entire pasta dish in my head to use it.

  4. I can’t say with all of them available there is a single GOAT, but my favorites are bucatini (for noodles), rigatoni (for tube shaped), ditalini (specifically for soups and stew-like dishes like fagioli), and farfalle (of the fancy shapes).

If there was a pasta apocalyptic event and I could only take one………..🤔 Bucatini. I think I just like noodles. Noodles of all cuisines are my favorite….pasta, pad Thai, tomato beef chow mein,

I love it. I will not stop until Pici makes the top three

  6. ProsciuttoFresco

Garofalo Mezze Maniche Rigate (dry pasta)

  7. MikeTheAmalgamator

It took me way too long to get a new pasta I haven’t seen vs having the same match up several times and sometimes even in a row just with sides switched.

  8. Chesticularity

    Long: Mafaldine
    Short: Casarecce

    All about the grabby-ness

  9. Runningman2319

it depends, but my personal favorites are rigatoni and spaghetti.

what’s the difference between angolotti and ravioli? /gen

  11. MangoSanTa

I think penne pasta is goated but spagetti or tagliatelle are both goated too

  12. TurbulentCranberry44

Chingale and pappardelle is my ideal pasta dish 😮

  13. Just want to say thanks everyone for having a play around with the web app, and for all the super helpful comments/feedback. I’ll make some changes for the next version

There’s been over 10,000 individual votes cast already and Rigatoni (surprisingly?) has a very solid lead

So you all know I’m actually a big mafalde and linguine guy

  14. BioFrosted

Genuinely surprised fusilli has not so much as been mentioned! Such a versatile pasta shape, great for many sauces

  15. T-51bender

    For me:

    1. Rigatoni

    2. Chitarra

    3. Fusilli

    4. Paccheri
