Is there a reason to insert the probe horizontally, rather than vertically, while it’s baking? If vertical it wouldn’t have the holes through each slice. (Obviously horizontal is the only option if you’re pan frying the entire cook.)

I use my meat thermometer from the top down instead of the angle you took. I like to avoid the hole it makes because I’m weird
