It’s literally just a tinfoil wrapped baked onion. Score it but keep it intact. Stuff with butter and seasoning and a little bit of oil. Bake at like 375F for an hour

Onion quartered not all the way through. Fat (oil or butter) seasoning to flavor (salt, pepper, adobo powder, tajin chili lime) whatever you want. Wrap in foil throw on girl or in camp fire until desired texture and enjoy. My Mom calls them “Hippie bulbs”.

We use butter, Worcester sauce, and bake it for ~2 hours instead of 1. Huge hit with dinner guests.

Is this rich? Seems like it may pair well with chicken and rice

Not OP but I believe [this](https://www.eatingbyelaine.com/onion-boil/) is what they’re referring to.
Was it good/worth the time?

Did you use a yellow onion or a white one?
