I’ve enjoyed this wine for many many years and the 2009 is truly exceptional. Unmistakably old world, unctuous, deep blackberry, cassis, licorice, moody French red. Enjoying it with a baguette and lots of Roquefort which one would think would spoil the flavor, but no, it is perfect.

I have a 2000 vintage in my fridge I’m waiting to open on my birthday in June! Have you also tried older vintages?

Lovely cheese and even lovelier wine but pairing them together creates so much confusion in my mind.

  3. I popped a 2015 not too long ago, and it was tight and a bit flat. Going to retry it in a few years and hope it improves.

This is on my wine bucket list. The Petit Ducru is one of my favorites in terms of QPR, and currently sitting on a 2015 La Croix.

    My local wine shop/bar just recently did a vertical tasting that featured 82, 95 – 99, 06, 08, 10, 12, 14, 16 & 20, but the price tag was too rich for my blood.

  5. That looks awesome! Never had the 2009, I’m glad it’s not in its dumb phase.

Sounds lovely! I’ve found these wines really excellent at a variety of ages.

I opened a 1970 that was brought in for corkage recently, the oldest Bordeaux I’ve got to enjoy and unbelievably fresh! The amount of fruit it had for being 54 years old was really impressive to me.

I have the 2012 in my shop. Been trying to convince myself to buy it for myself, but I value my marriage over a bottle of wine. 😂

I bought the 2003 for my brother’s 40th birthday dinner last year. Forced him to drink it with me obviously. Amazing.

In many ways it was a gift to myself that I justified by claiming it was for his birthday. Only half fooled my wife.
