So I have one of the original Traeger smokers (12 years old) from the Costco roadshow. About the size of a 580 (2ft wide barrel). No pro controller, no probes, plain and simple.
Well, it had a crazy fire while I was out of town and my wife burned it up. Electronics, and everything else melted. Was a great smoker. So looking to upgrade.

Bass pro is liquidating its pro line of traegers. So I picked up the pro 575 from bass pro for $599 last weekend.
Has all the new bells and whistles. D2 drive auger, wifire, single probe, hopper release door, two tiers of cooking.
However, the road show is at my local Costco. They have a Ridgeline XL for $849. Includes a front shelf, two tiers is cooking ~780 inches of cooking space. Hopper release door, wifire, single probe. Throwing in a cover, bag of pellets and drip liners. However, it does not have the D2 drive auger.
The rep got on the phone with his manager from Traeger as I knew more about his smokers than he did! LOL.
His boss said the only real difference is size and the brushless D2 drive auger that is on the pro model and not the Ridgeline.

So a $250 price tag difference. However there is an added front shelf, cover and $20 bag of pellets and liners. So all in all about a $150 price difference.
Is the brushless D2 drive auger worth it?
Any other opinions?

Thanks for any advice as I don’t plan on buying another for the next 12 years.
