I paid 21$ for one of these bad boys in Yokohama Japan. Let’s just say it did not disappoint. Wish I had photos of the finished outcome… was too busy enjoying it. And yes 1800 yen is per 100g and my steak came to 260ish grams which is 4680 yen which is 31.55 and on top of that it was 30 percent of so about 21-22$

The Yen lost so much value. I got to Tokyo a couple times a year and it’s finally cheap. 1,800 yen is $12.13 USD today

  2. “Forbidden mountain queen beef” is one hell of a band name.

Glanced at the name too quickly and only saw Forbidden Mountain Queef.

I had a knife made by a custom maker in Tokyo and when the bill came for a half million Yen it was intimidating.

That’s 110€/kilo, that’s three times the price of prime beef in France.

That’s a plus but certainly not the best part of Japan 🤣

You’d think you could buy the whole case and ship it here for less than it would be to buy that quality in the US. Or just a first class flight and stuff your pockets. Is there export controls about doing that? I think somebody might get mad

All fun and games until the queen of the forbidden mountain finds out you’re eating her steak and sends the Forbidden Mountain Guard after you.

Man, I lived in Japan around 30 yrs ago for a few years and beef used to be so expensive that we would only have it like once a week. Crazy how they’ve upped their game. Lol

I first read “Forbidden Mountain Queef” and was slightly confused for a moment.

  16. I’m going to Japan in a few weeks and want this, but don’t think I’ll have anywhere to cook it 🙁
