My favourite spot, Caribbean Roti Palace, closed a few years back when they tore down Mirvish Village. 😠Any recs are greatly appreciated!

I’ve often gotten Drupati’s and Mona’s mostly out of convenience (they’re good, but I haven’t tried the roti from many others in the GTA). Wicked Carib is my Trini aunt’s favourite.

How does Roti Hut in Scarborough compare?
ogdred123
Oh, I went there several times a week back in the 90s.
Kish’s Roti and Doubles at Queen and Parliament is very good and 24 h(!). (I believe this the same shop that used to be called Lena’s with several locations in the GTA.)

It was a sad day when Roti Palace closed. I haven’t been to the queen and Dufferin Island foods but the don mills location was good. Ali’s used to be good but I didn’t like it the last few times I went, but that was 10 years ago so maybe they turned it back around.
For me the best ones now are on the outskirts – drupatis, debes, roti hut.

Caribbean Roti Palace was the best I’ve ever had. Before they closed I asked the owner if he would open elsewhere and he said he wasn’t sure if he would….guess not.
Randy’s Roti just north of Yonge/Bloor (walking distance of about 5mins) isn’t too bad. He has a daily doubles deal before 2 or 3 pm IIRC. The aloo pies are my breakfast go-to. I usually get the shrimp roti and boneless chicken. They also sell fresh roti skins too.

Maybe because I grew up on it, but Pam’s is still my favourite for their dhalpuri roti they make in house–still excellent. The curry isn’t that great though. It’s just ok.
My current go-to is Mona’s, but I still stop by Pam’s for that roti.
Haven’t found a place with a good buss up shut roti(although I haven’t really looked hard). If anyone has any recommendations I would love to hear them.

Kish’s Roti & Doubles is by far my favourite. Closest I’ve found to authentic Trinidadian food & very similar to my great grandmother’s cooking haha.
They have two locations, one on Queen Street & one in Mississauga. I believe they used to be called Lena’s Roti & Doubles but changed their name since. Everything on their menu is really really good, definitely worth checking out!

Fuck I want doubles now.

If you’re willing to come all the way to East Scarborough (Port Union) I would highly recommend JJ’s Roti and Doubles. Family-owned business. Absolutely amazing food and their customer service is top tier.

Wicked Carib is the best! Doubles taste most similar to Trinidad! Curry and roti is also amazing as well as the corn soup!!

My boy Chris who started Inner Circle in Scarborough. HIGH VOUCH. Love that man and his mum (the one who taught him how to make roti) and she also worked at Mona’s before he got her to work at his joint.. so its sort of a family thing. Check my comment history, I fuck with Chris heavy since we was in highschool and am super happy for his dream of opening a local restaurant.

Kish’s has a downtown locations for doubles and rotis. It was pretty good in my opinion but I don’t eat a lot of this type of food
