

I made my first banana bread yesterday and I would consider it a 90% success. The remaining 10%’s a fail cause the outside was kinda hard but the inside was moist. I don’t know what went wrong and I would appreciate your insights or suggestions.
I followed Munchies by Mallory’s Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Banana Bread recipe (https://munchiesbymallory.com/recipe/brown-butter-chocolate-chip-banana-bread/) and it goes:
• 1/2 cup unsalted butter
• 1 cup brown sugar
• 3 mashed overripe bananas
• 1 egs
• 2-4 tbsp of milk** (add IF the batter is too thickK
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 2 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
I baked it for 50 mins (recipe calls for 55-65 mins) at 350F.
Do I need to lower the temp or bake it less than 50 mins the next time I do it to get a softer exterior of the bread?

I’ve had this problem with the top of banana bread being a little “over” – I’ve played with temp (slightly lower) and also covered part way through baking to reduce the crust and colouration. Yours looks amazing – pass a slice please 😋

I have never seen banana bread with such huge chunks of chocolate nor that much, and I love the idea! I like both chocolate cake and banana bread, so this is perfect.

Tbh that’s a really great attempt. I’m a sucker for chocolatey banana bread so I loveee it!
If you find the outside of your loaf to be too hard try the same recipe next time but take it out of the oven earlier than this time or you could try decreasing the amount of sugar.
I’m not an expert but I’ve made many banana breads and tried different variations, I noticed that with three ripe bananas I prefer adding less sugar so it doesn’t crystallize (I go for 3 bananas, 2/3 cup sugar or less if the b. are big)
That is the perfect chocolate to all other ingredients ratio.
I’m craving banana bread now 😭😭😭
