A Joe’s Stone Crab alum opens a new spot in Fort Lauderdale
After 26 years helming the kitchen at Joe’s Stone Crab, chef André Bienvenu opens Catch & Cut, a steak-and-seafood house on Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. The chef/partner focuses his menu on freshly caught seafood, USDA Prime steaks from Allen Brothers, and (yes) stone crabs, paired with a wine list created by sommelier Stephan Cole. Diners can watch Bienvenu and the team prepare their meals in the open kitchen or enjoy patio seating.

Claudie evokes South-of-France vibes
Riviera Dining Group (Mila, Casa Neos), opened Claudie, a French Mediterranean restaurant in Brickell that celebrates “la Cuisine du Soleil.” The dining room, designed by OV&Co. and Lazaro Rosa-Violán. is meant to invoke the South of France and features glazed tiles and handcrafted furnishings. Customers can dine around a gigantic water fountain on the outdoor patio inspired by famous French jewelry designs.
Miami Beach gains a master sfoglina
Executive chef and master pasta maker Luigi Iannuario opened Donna Mare, the new Italian chophouse inside the Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club in Miami Beach. The restaurant offers pizzas from its wood-fired oven, along with steaks and oversized chicken parm, but the highlight is the fresh pastas made in a dedicated workshop by Elena Montanari, a master sfoglina (master pasta artisan). Diners and passersby can watch Montanari in action as she handcrafts pastas from the window overlooking Collins Avenue.
Oxtail lasagna and lechon asado features at new Cuban Caribbean spot
Husband-and-wife culinary team David Martinez and Michelle Bernstein, the names behind some of Miami’s most loved restaurants including Cafe La Trova and Sra. Martinez, opened La Cañita in Bayside Marketplace in 2021 as a smaller, casual Cuban restaurant. Now, they’ve opened a larger version at the Palms of Town & Country. The restaurant offers Cuban Caribbean favorites like croqueta, empanadas, oxtail lasagna, and lechon asado. The restaurant also celebrates the rich rum culture of the Caribbean with a cocktail menu that includes a classic mojito and a Presidente.
