“I’m not looking for a political discussion”

Anyway, to repeat myself – I am so, so tired of this orange bozo. So tired.

  2. gingerbreadninja1

Its called Sparkling Recession in the states

  3. barTRON3000

I think OPs point is that there is no American Champagne.

  4. Oh no, whatever shall we do with all this champagne… anyways.

  5. You’d think he knew that the champagne industry in the United States is hardly big enough to defend….

  6. slo_roller

I’m surprised no one has pointed out that “whisky” without an E is traditionally used to describe Scotch, whereas “whiskey” is what is produced everywhere else. So, technically, a tariff on “American whisky” is nothing.

  7. Sharp_Variation_5661

There’s not many quality equals to French wine nor champagne. ( or it’s european.)
There’s a thousands références to drink before buying Bourbon.

    Your move, cheeto.

As someone in the wine industry.

    Aaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahaha..

    *deep breath*

    Ahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahhahahahahah..

    Californian wines are good.

But fuck me, they’re not “GREAT”.

    Make America Great again.

    AAAAAhahahahahahhahahahahahah.

    **EDIT**

MY sincere apologies to American Wine workers. You do actually have some “GREAT” wines. I’m really sorry that the Orange Turd is hurting you, and by extension me too, because your GREAT wines will cost me more.

  9. Gogoburritoplata

Welp Schramsberg and Domaine Carneros sparkling wines it is then.

  10. FocusIsFragile

The only solace I can take in this is that there are a whole lotta maga chuds in the ports and drayage business, and they’ll feel the bite here big time along with the rest of us.

  11. Richyroo52

I think Niles blackmailed his rival at his wine club for serving domestic champagne at his wedding….!

  12. greene2358

Just yesterday, my wife just received state liquor authority approval to open a wine shop. (NYS). This will all but blow up our business model…

  13. This fucking idiot is such a stupid motherfucking idiot

  14. ReactionClear4923

Aaaaand Chartreuse is going through the roof along with French and Italian wines

  15. No_Eggplant6269

Napa wines are so overpriced so better stock up asap before this moron continues to screw up the economy

  16. If I can’t buy burgundy and champagne I’ll probably stop drinking wine. I like what I like and I’m not gonna drink whatever’s available just to catch a buzz in the name of patriotism. I fucking hate this man and his supporters.

  17. Dogs_and_Shiraz

Can we all just start ghosting him? He doesn’t deserve the attention.

  18. Ugh. As an American consumer, this is going to be painful. Europe bros yall might as well just stop selling our stuff like Canada. The only thing that gets their attention at this point is $.

  19. RidiculousRex89

This guy better not come between me and my Rioja…

  20. Pokemon-trainer-BC

His next post: Trump wants to buy the Champagne wine region from France. It will be the 52th state (since Canada is the 51th) and will be used to produce most, if not all, American Champagnes (capital C).

Greenland still didn’t get a number. People are fearing it will only become an unincorporated U.S. territory in Trump’s plans… Or maybe it will become part of the 51th state.

  21. DepletedMitochondria

Surely the work of White Claw lobbyists /s

  22. Sorry American winelovers, but we didn’t start this.

Plus that I consider myself lucky living within EU borders. I would be willing to continue the way I live without access to affordable Cali Cabs (if they even exist, but I will miss Oregon PN though), but I’m pretty convinced my wife would eventually leave me if I would happen to lose access to moderately affordable Bourgogne, Chianti or Champagne.

  23. No-Roof-1628

Welp, this could be the end of my wine career lol

  24. Snarky_McSnarkleton

To be American champagne, it.has to come from the Champagne region of Mar-a-Lardo.

  25. His supporters are gonna be PISSED when the price of Stella Rosa goes up

  26. Hungry_Ad_6607

This is terrible. I really hope negotiations take place before this. This could cripple a lot of businesses in the united states that are already dealing with layoffs. The United States is almost 20% of the French export, 25% of the Italian export, and roughly 10% of the Spanish export, which would be terrible for the producers over there as well. I can’t stand this.

  27. mmoonbelly

    I’m more worried about Cognac.

We’re a 98% export product here and already being hit by the current trade war on Electric cars from China. (Reciprocal tariffs have hit spirits).

While Bernard Arnault et. al will be personally ok even with a dip for Hennessy revenue, behind the major producers there are thousands of workers in bottling facilities, and hundreds of vineyards with 2-20 people growing grapes and distilling spirits for the major cognac houses.

  28. Hootahsesh3

So is this sub just another anti-Trump circlejerk now? Is nothing sacred on this god forsaken app?…can’t we just be alcoholics in peace??!?

(Please note a heavy level of sarcasm and irony in my tone here)

  29. OntdekJePlekjes

According to Russian law, only sparkling wine produced in Russia may be called “Champagne”.

  30. brunello1997

We have largely fixed the improper use of Champagne as a generic in the US. No self-respecting vintner/company would want to trade off of theft. Trump is an idiot and no one should listen to him about anything. He has the sophistication born of stereotypes.

Champagne is French. What Donald doesn’t know could fill every cellar in Reims 3 x over. In the US, we make sparkling wine using the traditional method. But Donald, the Orange Menace has always been a thief so you get what you elect.

  31. 22goblins

Gonna love having to spend 25-30 bucks a bottle on overpriced california cabs instead of being able to get cheaper more cost effective wines from europe
