Just got the Golden Diner Pancakes and I have to say…wow. These pancakes were solid af. Funny enough, the add ons (excluding the fruit compote) may have done them in a little bit.
Pros:
- Ordered them so I didn’t have to wait in line or get a rest
Pros
– Soft and fluffy af
– Solid savor. Thought it was going to be an overly sweet pancake without any add-ons and it wasn’t. Actually savory on its own. Can taste the butter cooked into the pancake
– great pancake consistency. Kept taking vids and pics of me zooming up and the pancake insides look like microscopic crystals. Very sexy stuff
– when adding the syrup the pancakes with the margarine (?), it makes a solid pancake. Savory enough to complement the sweetness of the syrup (which I thought was a little too sweet and candy-like).
Cons
– Came with margarine or really cheap butter. Didn’t really melt. And yes butter doesn’t just melt right away. Also, Not salted butter, which I prefer but that wasn’t a real negative. Just an observation. Just spooked that the butter or margarine wasn’t really melting at all. Kinda tore up the pancake trying to spread it. Tried to let it warm up a little bit by placing it one a running laptop (not the smartest I know) but it really didn’t melt. Room I was in was a little hotter than room temp and that didn’t help.

– syrup was very thick and candy like in taste. Eh. Tasted like a buttered down version of werthers candy’s your grandmom used to give you when you were young. Butterscotch type syrup but taste not even strong in the butterscotch
Food packaging for the condiments had a weird smell (butter and syrup). Makes me a little queasy cuz I have big nostrils that smell everything, and then my mind starts wondering as to why the packaging smells funny (packaging kept in a bad place, dirty water?) Maybe if you sit down and order there, you don’t smell it or you don’t get that experience cuz they don’t use the packaging cups. But I smelled the little mini cups several times to make sure it wasn’t me and it wasn’t me. The pancakes smelled fine.
not really a con but a reminder to ask for the fruit compote. If you order, it doesn’t automatically come with ti. Just remember to add that to the order
Overall I give this a solid 8. Swap out the syrup and used real butter and the scoring shoots up. But the pancakes were surprisingly solid by themselves. The fruit compote probably could’ve pushed this to a 8.5 or 9. Wished I ordered them. Again, that was my mistake, not a con necessarily on the restaurant. If you can, order from them if you wanna escape the lines or if you want to, get a reservation and try them out. Peace.
