  1. I'm a Better Than Bouillon fan. The flavor is great. (Just day before yesterday I had to fast, other than clear liquids or broth. The chicken flavor was awesome.)
I live alone. I could never get cubes to melt, and a big box of broth was just too much and a lot would go to waste. That's another reason I like BTB..I can make just the amount that I need and the rest of the jar will store in the refrigerator for a good long time. I was very glad it got such a great review.

  2. We use Better Than Bouillon because it tastes so much better than the liquids in boxes. Plus, it lasts longer and you can make it stronger or weaker by just using less or more water.

  3. I really try to use homemade stock but sometimes you gotta use a shortcut. I’ve often stood in front of all the stock/broth options trying to decide what to buy. This is so helpful! I’ve also recently discovered a Knorr stock concentrate that actually tastes pretty good, a lot like Better Than Bullion and way better than the powder.

  4. As someone who follows a low sodium diet, I would like to see a taste test comparison of no sodium added options. All of these brands contain way too much sodium, even the reduced sodium options are way too high. The US has a love affair with salt.

  5. I use chicken broth in quite an unusual way. I had been looking for a drink that is not sugary as I am diabetic. I want to limit my caffeine to one cup of coffee a day. I don’t like tea as it has caffeine and the bitterness hurts my throat a little. Ice cold water is great but often I want something warm without adding sugar or salt into my diet. I came across these bone broths in the supermarket and by luck I picked up Swanson chicken broth. It tasted just the way I wanted it to and didn’t want to waste time tasting others! I dilute it about 1 part broth to 4 part water, add a tiny sprinkle of salt then warm it up in a microwave oven.

  6. I’ve been using Better than Bullion for years. It is the clear winner for me. I use it in soups, veggies, rice..just about anything that needs extra flavor plus you can use it in different amounts, strengths, and it lasts forever in the fridge 😊

  7. the best option is the one that you like the taste of and find it easy to keep in your house.

  8. I'm still only going to buy Better Than Bullion. To me it has the most rich chicken flavor out of anything I've bought in the past. Love it!

  9. You tested the wrong Better Than Bouillon! There is an organic version that doesn't have a lot of the artificial stuff, and is 1000% better tasting as well. It is also widely available.

  10. Here's a tip for when some liquid is okay – for soups, cooking rice and other grains, etc: Get a can of Campbell's Condensed Chicken Broth and use it full-strength! Adjust salt accordingly, btw.

  11. I very seldom use chicken broth..I just use a nice fat piece of chicken when I MAKE SOUP..but ..I’ve used Swanson.

  12. Why is SUGAR in broths and bouillons?!? I am old enough to remember that sugar was not always an ingredient in bouillon or broths. It is alctually a relatively recent inclusion, just as sugar is now added to many previously un-sugared processed foods. Not everything requires sugar to have an appealing flavor, especially not savory foods!!!
It is difficult to believe there are no ulterior motives for food processors adding sugar to everything, especially considering its addictive properties.
Personally, I can't stand sugar in or on meats, not even ham, and to me, sugar does not enhance the flavor of savory meats, YUCK! This is my opinion, and I'm sticking to it. 😄

  13. Informative video! ❤

I guess I need to try the better thans. I like the idea of a small container of concentrate but I think I have avoided it because Im usually just fine with the Knorr or Maggi powders. I don't have room to store quart boxes or cans of stock and they are exp! I also like the powders because I can add them to spice blends that I make, such as my own taco seasoning. I strongly prefer beef over chicken flavors but I think maybe chicken is a more versatile flavor to add to anything.

Over 3 years ago, I ordered a 6pk of the largest of the beef bouillon powder (I think they are 32oz each) and I'm still working on them. It was $30 from Amazon. So I have been set for a good while with a bulk buy, and I use it regularly. That…and i buy chicken flavored ramen and save the packets for other things and it covers my need for chicken flavoring.

When I make chicken or beef in the crockpot I will add enough water to intentionally have stock to work with as a leftover and will use it for soup or to cook rice or beans.

A word about your presentation of the powder. I don't know if that is entirely accurate. I mix mine to varying strengths but always use enough hot water to dissolve it, and you have to shake or whisk it. Mine never has granules. I mean it might still be the worst on your list but it shouldn't be gritty.

  14. I keep Better Than Bouillon in chicken, beef and vegetable in my fridge. Not only does it taste better than boxed broth, it takes up way less space

  15. I wonder what they would’ve thought about Campbell’s chicken broth in the can? I like it; I use it a lot. I also like Better Than Boullion. 😊
