I'm telling you, imitation crab is where it's at 🙂 some of you might look at how it's produced and cringe, but I challenge you, of those people who are grossed out by surimi, how many of you ate McDonald's chicken nuggets by the truckload? (raises hand) Same process 😁

Surimi is a valid source of seafood nutrition, and it's delicious and low calorie. All I need is lemon juice, or True Lemon seasoning, and salt. You can eat it cold, as is, but I heat it till it's steaming and just throw on a ton of lemon, salt, and pepper. Do you have a favorite way of preparing it?

Imitation crab is really good, but I hate that all of them have sugar

I love Pollock so it makes sense that I love imitation crab because a lot of them are mostly Pollock. Makes super easy hand rolls.

i mean its processed food, you don’t really know whats in it or how many kinds of leftover seafood has been ground and mixed together (surely wont be high grade cuts). that being said, probably better to eat this occasionally than starve or overeat. i buy this sometimes when i get the craving but honestly i dont really dare to eat it often or to give it to my dog due to how processed it is

  5. sooo tasty, even when not calorie counting I love it as a snack with some cocktail sauce (which coincidentally is also a low calorie sauce)

I loved the stuff until I saw a video of how it was made and lost my appetite for it.

There’s a video on X – just search for “fake crab”.

  8. I love imitation crab! I really don’t see anything wrong with how it’s made, it’s just a blend of pollock, pea starch, sugar, salt, natural flavor, potassium, and color derived from tomatoes. As far as processed food goes it’s one of the better options.

I like eating it raw with cocktail sauce as a snack. I tried pan frying it once to make sort of a fried rice and I decided it’s best to stick to it cold lol

  9. I absolutely love the stuff but too much of it hurts my stomach. I don’t know what part of it does. I think it’s the sorbitol. Possibly the wheat. But I usually splurge on occasion and make some seafood dishes.

Is the only “seafood” I like lol. I’m the biggest hater of seafood bit since these are processed and blended with stuff I actually love them. They’re one of my main foods tbh

  11. Yes, I love surimi!! I usually eat them in salads may it be breakfast, lunch or dinner: cucumber, egg, surimi, canned corn (optional), light mayo/greek yogurt. I call them crab salads without rice. They are like 200-300cals

I love this stuff! I prefer it over real crab meat lol

Considering “surimi” is a word I’ve only ever seen on my cats’ wet food…

I will say I didn’t know that was the word for imitation crab. I like fake crab so maybe I’ll give it a go if i can find it 🙂

imitation crab rolls are like a quarter of my diet

  15. maderisian

They’re a staple for my husband but since I’m not huge on seafood, I really only use them for sushi rolls

Love them. Low calorie, high in protein, delicious and versatile

I bought some and I’m trying to like it, but it’s tasteless. I need to learn how to use it. I’m thinking it needs mayo. And I saw some others mention chopped in a salad. But chopped and mixed with Greek yogurt and some dry seasoning, it was so plain. I’ll keep trying.
