  1. This video hits close to home as a 47-year-old (48 in a few months) new-ish triathlete shooting for my first 70.3 this year after quite a few sprints. I'm married, have a full-time job, and have 2 kids (17 and 6), so I have limited training time. Luckily, I'm a pretty strong runner, but my swim is rough, and my bike stamina needs work. Thanks for the great videos, Phil, and for the motivation. Your videos are always top-notch. 👍🏼

  2. Ambious & exiting plans! Inspiring. If you'r intresting in saving more weight, You could shave off 300gms from your crankset quiet easily by going for for example an Elilee x310 & even more if you add some CarbonTi chanrings. Changing the Ultegra cassette to a Dura Ace version, will save weight & is much smoother to ride with, makes a big difference. Keep us posted on the upgrades.

  3. Great video. Also turning 50 this year and excited to compete in a new age group. I have been using your programs for years and love them. Thank you for helping me successfully complete so many races.

  4. Hi Phil
As the current title holder (Ironman 70.3 world championships, Taupo NZ 2024) in the 70-74 age group, I relate quite closely to your experience of a life as a triathlete. Of course there are differences, some of them due to our age gap, but in essence I empathize. I usually structure my season around two 70.3 events, one in Aix en Provence where I live and the second wheverer the Championships take place. I will race in Marbella too, the good thing being that I have been awarded a "returning champion slot" in Taupo. Good luck and thanks for your inspiring videos and I hope we both win in Marbella !

  5. So amazing! Good work! Love your program and excited for my first 70.3 in Boulder, Colorado this summer!

Thank you for all the tips and good luck!

  6. Great video and all the best in Marbella! I'll race you on Mallorca in the same age group. The Alpe d'Huez triathlon (I assume you do the long course) is also a stunning event, just don't consider it too much of a B-race though. When I did it in 2017 it felt closer to a full distance triathlon than a half one.

  7. Great video Phil. I did my first triathlon 1989. And I'm still truckin at age 52. I keep my training and equipment super-simple. And go gun to tape as hard as possible on race day. Have fun this season. Ross.

  8. Thanks a lot for this, great vid. I also have a child and struggle to find the time just to run and do S&C let alone get back into swimming and cycling. Have also been trying to get back into BJJ which, as you can imagine, is tricky. Super impressive you're even thinking about podiums and winning. An inspiration for us all merci, gracias!
