Hola everyone. Or should I say…Bonjour?
Yes, that’s right, this week I am joined by an amazing chef and everyone’s culinary hero, Jacques Pépin.
Jacques and I met up recently at the Watergate Hotel in Washington. He was in town to celebrate the Julia Child Awards, but it also was a bit of an early birthday celebration for Jacques. He is going to be 90 this year! And he’s celebrating his 65th year here in the U.S. Yes, people, another amazing immigrant!
On this episode of Longer Tables, Jacques reflects on his life, including his intense initiation to the culinary world in France, the first time he met Julia Child…and why he turned down the opportunity to cook for John F. Kennedy in the White House.
He also shared with me the cookbooks that you need to have in your life—and the very best kitchen tool that you probably already have!
Enjoy and, as always, let me know what you think in the comments.
