Tzatziki
1/2 cup grated and water squeezed out cucumber (about half of a cucumber)
1 cup plain yogurt
1 tablespoon EVOO
1 teaspoon dried dill or 1 tablespoon fresh dill
2 teaspoons lemon juice or white wine vinegar
2 garlic cloves pressed or very finely chopped
1/4 teaspoon salt
zest of 1 lemon or 1/2 teaspoon dehydrated lemon zest
spoonful of mayo if you want it extra creamy and rich
mix everything together in a bowl and allow to sit at least 1 hour but overnight is better to allow the garlic to mellow out.
This will last a week in the fridge

  1. New sub here! Funny thing, Ally…. You popped up in my algo the other day and it was like looking in the mirror. We look similar…we talk alike…same mannerisms…same lifestyle. We dress alike…and I make EVERYTHING from scratch. Food, cleaning and hygiene products are all from scratch. We could be sisters. VERY freaky. I even just started working with fresh, milled wheat. Not a lot of us out there…so carry on strong sister! You’re doing FABULOUS!

  2. We have a restaurant near us named Tzatsiki's. They pronounce it "zaht-zee-kee." Thanks for the recipe! (I add mayo to my version, too!)😊

  3. I haven’t made this in a long time! I think the last time I made it, it really wasn’t tzatziki, it was cucumber dip. I like the richness of sour cream and mayo😳

  4. I made what I call "tasziki sauce" once and the recipe didn't call for squeezing out the juice and it was watery and gross 🤢I will be trying it this way, makes a lot more sense to get rid of all that water from the cucumber, thank you for sharing this 👍👍👍

  5. I had a successful experiment last year with dehydrating cucumber. Now I’m not quite sure what to do with it. Do you think this recipe is wet enough to plop in the dehydrated cucumber and let it sit overnight, then blend?

  6. Sounds like a great recipe. I've never made anything like this from scratch. I am finding out how easy a lot of stuff is to make , and I thought it must be way more complicated. You're a good teacher, Ali. ❤

  7. Although I don't eat tzatziki I love your videos. You're so down to earth. I love watching you and your husband interact you have a very joyous marriage. I do have a request for the series that you're doing on back to basics. Do you have a shelf stable recipe for the I think it's like a 3.4 Oz box of instant pudding mix. I always add a box of instant pudding mix to all my cake mixes. I would love to have something that I could just whip up when I'm whipping up the cake mixes that you introduced us to and put them in the cake mix already so that I can make it like I normally do. I add one cup of milk instead of water, one cup of oil, four eggs, one box of instant pudding mix of choice. I use the same flavor is the cake I'm making. It makes a really moist delicious cake.

  8. I love this recipe! Yum! Btw, my first job as a teen was in a Greek/Italian restaurant and they explained it’s pronounced SAD ZIKI. Hope that helps you as much as it helped me! 😉

  9. You may get this too late, but please show us how you make your gyro meat. Love the channel, thanks so much!

  10. Frozen lemons can also be used to make lemon sorbet and you can put the sorbet into the lemon skins and pop them back into the freezer for those times when you need a little treat.

  11. Hi Ali I am dehydrating Spanish lemons 🍋 the smell is amazing no wax on them I peel and cut them and dehydrate them all tonight, I will do desserts and cookies with them during Christmas time this year 😂😂😂 the aroma on these ones are fantastic 😍😍😍

  12. I really like Tzatziki, first had it at a street fair. I have to laugh with this one. It says this was put up 11 hr's ago and you mention how your going to have coming up, how to make tahini & hummus. I watched those a few weeks ago, lol!. It must get confusing making videos. It would not be for me as I easily get confused, no help needed, lol! Thank you for all of them no matter what order, lol!

  13. Dehydrated shredded cucumbers actually do really well in Tzatsiki sauce. I just add them to the sauce and let them sit and rehydrate in the yogurt for a bit and then add all the spices. It works really well. So I try to have dehydrated shredded cucumbers in my storage because I love Tzatsiki sauce on a lot of different things.

  14. So now we need recipes for the meat marinade. I am getting delivery of farm raised lamb next month and this sounds good.

  15. Ally we eat tons of cucumber at home omg thank you. It’s so fresh and healthy. We also prefer the English ones. Also do you have the link to the cloth you use. Thank you
