I had tried to find other Reddit threads about this sort of thing and came across someone who was talking about building an app. I've been talking to a couple friends lately about how finding out about food pop-ups around LA is scattered across various platforms – media publications (LAist, We Like L.A., Time Out, Eater, etc), social media, worth of mouth.
My one friend and I were thinking a shared Google Sheet could be a good way for people to find out about these types of food pop-ups and trucks. He was thinking it could be editable but that could get chaotic, so I was thinking Google Form submissions and I could take on the task of inputting them into a view-only Google Sheet. It could be broken into various tabs: one-off special event dates, recurring, preorder + pickup only, etc. And columns would include the name, type of cuisine, location(s), social media handles, any notes. I'll probably regret taking on such a big and busy task haha, but I think it could be a cool way for the small businesses to get more exposure and to find some really interesting food around this great city of ours. Wanted to gauge what people's thoughts are on this.
I actually keep an internal Google Sheet myself of food pop-ups and trucks I want to go to. And during the pandemic, I started this [short-lived] Instagram account where I posted about people's pop-ups. But I think something like a shared Google Sheet that's easily shareable would be more accessible. The LA Restaurant Surcharges List already gets a lot of traction so why not this.
