This year I did a lemon cake with lemon curd cottage cheese (actually tvaroh… Something like smooth cottage cheese) whipped cream filling and then decorated with lime ermine buttercream. The ermine buttercream isn't as easy to work with as I thought. It tastes better than regular buttercream but it was so hard to get smooth… Well, I actually didn't get it smooth as you can see lol.
I'm happy with it. The little hearts bring me so much joy.
I followed someone's tip on here about mixing my own green from yellow and blue. I also added a tiny bit of brown cause it was looking way too neon and got the perfect green

Aw. I used to do this too. After one failed birthday party where I spent hundreds and took all day to cook and bake… only for no one to show. I spent most of my adulthood never telling anyone when it was my birthday, just making cake for “no reason” and giving it away to other people.

Good idea. I’m always sad that there are no good cakes at the bakeries around here – just variations on sponge cake with buttercream in various flavors. Haven’t started making a lot of cakes yet but now I’ve got a few months to practice and make my own….

I have the same tradition! But this year I didn’t feel like cake so I made chocolate covered strawberries and coconut macaroons lol! Your cake is so pretty!
