I’m nearly 40 years old and I’ve been eating BBQ throughout Texas nearly all my life. Every BBQ place generally has these crinkle cut pickles that I get about 4-9 tong-fulls of (depending on the size of the tongs) They cut through the richness of the meat and cleanse the pallet between each bite of the rich goodness. They have to come in 5 gallon buckets by the amount they’re literally everywhere. I’ve never been able to identify them off the shelf.
Any help would be appreciated. And if anyone knows where Whataburger gets their pickles as well, that’d likewise be appreciated.

It’s entirely possible that they were made in house

Call your favorite BBQ joint and ask them…I’m sure they will be happy to tell you. It could be something that is ordered in bulk through a grocery supplier and not available to the general public.

Most of the restaurants I’ve worked at or visited use Best Maid. I think Whataburger uses a brand called Hausbeck but that could be different now. However, a real treat is find you an HEB and buy the tub of True Texas BBQ pickles usually sold in the deli section. Some HEB’s have True BBQ restaurants attached and these are the pickles they sell. They are pricey but so good. I even drink the juice.

I’ve worked at 2 BBQ joints, both used Best Maid Dill pickles, and they absolutely come in 5 gallon buckets

We always ordered Best Maid at the bbq catering place I worked at

Im also thinking BestMaid. If you can’t find them, Del-Dixie are even better in my opinion.
