A few months ago I did exactly one very half assed attempt to make cookies- no colors just messed with the consistency, tips and cookie shapes.

I'm making the entire dessert bar for my sister bridal shower and these are apart of it.

A few weeks ago I made, baked and froze over 100 cookies. Today is the start of my prep work to decorate said cookies for this weekend and let me tell you (you already know) it took me so long to make all of these colors. A little over 3 hours!
I did not account for how long the icing would take. Thankfully I put it on a day all by itself. I made what I think it way too much. A double batch was not necessary but I'd rather too much then not enough.
Tomorrow is my flood day. I'll definitely be posting pictures when they are all complete!

Mad props to all of you that do this on the regular!

*the cookies in the picture were iced to I could see how they dry so I didn't pop any bubbles.

  1. You’ll get faster as you keep at it (if you decide to). I can mix up 8-10 colors in about 30-45 minutes but in the beginning it definitely took an hour or two depending on how many I needed!

    You got it goin’ on!

All the hard parts (at least, to me) are done and now the fun begins. Your colors look wonderful and can’t wait to see your finished work. A lot of people don’t realize just how time consuming these are to make and I’m glad when others can show what is involved so that these people know that this is a labor of love!
