It's one of those things you can't believe can be so addictive when you read the ingredient list.
In it's simplest form it is Asian shallots (the tiny marble sized ones that are annoying af to peel), salt, dried chili flakes and a squeeze of lime.
I love to add black pepper and Maldives fish chips, which are flakes of dried tuna – it gives an incredible umami.
I added a pic of one of the many ways we eat it: with boiled sweet potato, and grated coconut. It's amazing with most things, some of my favorites include pol roti (coconut flatbread), kiribath (coconut milk rice) and string hoppers (a kind of steamed nest of rice noodles).

Very similar to the chili chutney (Molagu chamandi) we eat in Kerala! These look like cassava and not sweet potatoes though? That’s a classic home style Kerala meal as well, chili chutney with steamed/boiled cassava haha
