SHREVEPORT, La. — As the countdown continues to the start of 318 Restaurant Week Sunday through April 5, the owner and staff of Flames Mediterranean Grill eagerly anticipate extending their warm hospitality and delicious offerings to a host of visitors.

As global cuisines increasingly influence what we eat, Mediterranean and Persian flavors infuse the dishes served at Flames, located in Shreveport near Ellerbe Road and Highway 3132 at 436 Ashley Ridge Boulevard.

KTBS News anchor Shannon Brinias had the opportunity recently to visit with Sia Ravari, the owner of Flames Mediterranean Grill, a participating eatery in 318 Restaurant Week. Ravari opened the restaurant in 2021.

“I was retired for five years, so I just sort of lost contact with people who, I love to have a contact with people. And I love cooking and have a passion for the restaurant business,” Ravari said.

He described the menu’s cuisine as Persian Mediterranean with a Middle Eastern flair. Ravari said the flavors call for the food to be marinated and grilled when possible, without additives, and moderately-seasoned meats and vegetables so as not to overwhelm them.

“I want you to taste the meat and fish and chicken, everything. But at the same time, it’s very healthy,” Ravari said.

He described the restaurant’s atmosphere as friendly and family-oriented.

“We don’t rush people and also it’s spread out. And I want to make sure everybody walks out of here happy and healthy and satisfied,” Ravari said.

Flames Mediterranean Grill offers happy hour 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily, except on Saturdays and Sundays, when the bargain prices last all day.

“We have a March Madness [deal] actually going on right now, which we have a 16 ounce beer for $2. And then we have a house shot for $4,” Ravari said.

For 318 Restaurant Week, Savari plans to offer a grilled meat and veggie lunch, with a bargain price that will last the entire month of April.

In addition, Flames can arrange for private parties in designated party rooms, with space for 30-150 attendees. For more information on the restaurant, visit flamesmediterranean.com or follow them on Facebook. To make a reservation, call (318) 828-1435.
