Ingredients:
Cauliflower – one medium sized head. This is Chinese style cauliflower (it has looser florets, cooks quicker and has crunchier texture).
Cooking oil – 2 tablespoons.
Onion powder – 1 teaspoon.
Garlic powder – 1 teaspoon.
Chopped chives – about 2 tablespoons.
Sauce ingredients:
Maple syrup – 4 tablespoons.
Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon.
Minced fresh ginger – 1 teaspoon.
Smoked paprika – 1 tablespoon.
Cayenne pepper – 2 teaspoons.
Salt – to taste.
Cooking instructions:
Chop cauliflower into bite sized florets. Heat oil in a wide based skillet on medium heat. Saute cauliflower florets until uniformly browned and slightly softened. Add onion powder and garlic powder and saute for another minute on low heat.
Mix sauce ingredients (mentioned above) in a bowl and pour them over the cauliflower florets. Continue sautéing until maple syrup starts sticking to the pan and the sauce is somewhat thicker. Turn the heat off and add chopped chives. Enjoy it as a side dish or on its own.
