ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — A restaurant that has been in Asheville for 20 years is getting a post-Helene update.
The French bistro Bouchon will be downsizing this week, going from Bouchon to Crêperie Bouchon.
While the name may be longer, the menu is much shorter. The bistro will bid adieu to their old menu to favor one of crepes, salads, soups and sandwiches.
While the restaurant was able to withstand COVID-19 closures, Bouchon owner Michel Baudouin says Helene came as a final straw.
“Helene was, in a way, more challenging and worse than COVID because [with] COVID, we knew it was coming. We knew we had to shut down, so we were able to plan. We were able to adjust,” said Baudouin.
Baudouin says they knew there was a storm coming but they did not expect the magnitude of devastation that Helene brought.
ASHEVILLE SHOPS GRATEFUL FOR LOCAL SUPPORT POST-HELENE, BUT BRACE FOR SLOW SEASON
“Bouchon was closed for two months,” Baudouin said.
As Bouchon celebrates 20 years in Asheville, they look forward to the new life that this change will bring to the establishment.
The restaurant’s location will not change, but they have new hours that will begin at 11 a.m. with seasonal changes of closing times.
Their goal is to open Wednesday, Jan. 15 as Crêperie Bouchon.
