Tried seasonning it in my oven at 400 with a little canola oil (really thin layer) all around(under it, top everywhere)
Came out like this
Am I good to go?
Thoughts?

I use olive or avocado oil for seasoning because of the higher heat point. I also use seasoning wax. I would stay away from other oils.

Coming from the world of cast iron, I can tell you that your seasoning is not complete.
It looks to me like you used too much oil. I would recommend giving it a good scrub with dish soap and a stiff brush to get rid of the sticky oil residue that’s on your steel. Then using a can of pam, give it a good spritz then with a fresh paper towel, wipe it down to even out the layer of oil. Now, HERES THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP. get ANOTHER FRESH PAPER TOWEL and wipe it down again like putting the oil on was a mistake. wipe it like your parents are coming home and your dads gonna be PISSED that you put oil on the griddle. then stick it in a cold oven, turn it to 500f, once it preheats, set a 1 hour timer. after the timer is done, turn off the oven and come back in about 4 hours (or tomorrow). then you’re good to start cooking.

I gave mine a wipe with oil and just started cooking, it’s over a year old and absolutely fine.

Did you preheat the griddle at a lower temp?

Do what I do, cook a load of bacon on it until eggs don’t stick to it!! I’ve heard people use coconut oil but no idea if that’s a good option… Worst case you can remove the old seasoning and reapply…by cooking bacon of course!!

I use coconut oil for the first two – three seasonings after a burn off. On cast iron. Then grape seed after cooks. As the grill cools, I use that time and heat to season whatever needs it at the time. If you don’t like whatever is on there, put it in the grill for a hour at 500. Soap and water, then season again. Pretty hard to ruin these sorts of things.
