A new Mediterranean restaurant is opening soon at 753 N. Water St.
Mediterranean Kuzina will open Aug. 10, according to owner Ender Erk. It’s at the corner of North Water Street and East Mason Street, in a spot that previously was home to Bruegger’s Bagels and The Angry Taco.
Erk, 25, grew up in Turkey and moved to Madison after the COVID-19 pandemic. He co-owns The Mediterranean Joint in Madison and recently moved to Milwaukee to open Mediterranean Kuzina.
Erk went to culinary school and interned in restaurants internationally in Germany and Jordan. He came to the U.S. in 2017. Before moving to Madison, Erk worked at a Ritz-Carlton hotel in Louisiana as a chef assistant.
Mediterranean Kuzina will feature dishes like gyros, falafel, baklava and other desserts. Erk says the restaurants ingredients will be fresh and never frozen.
Erk said he’s excited to bring Mediterranean cuisine to Water Street, which he he chose because he wanted to add something new to the area.
