The French capital was in the spotlight for the 2024 Paris Olympics, with coverage often showcasing spectacular views of the historic Eiffel Tower — a stunning backdrop to the games.

Preparations for the closing ceremony this weekend are underway, and the United States is dominating the medal count with 103 medals — 30 of those gold — as of Friday, Aug. 9.

As Team USA advances to victory, El Pasoans can join the celebration in the so-called ‘City of Love’ with a visit to a French restaurant on this side of the globe.

From sweet and savory crepes to buttery escargots and delectable pastries, here are three French restaurants in the borderland to try:

Entrecôte & Co.

The best-selling appetizer here is escargots — snails cooked in butter, parsley, shallots and garlic sauce — according to a post on Entrecôte & Co.’s social media. The French restaurant at 5825 N Mesa St. offers endless menu options, including a charcuterie and cheese board served with a house-made French baguette and ‘Chicken Schnitzel,’ a generational secret recipe with French butter and capers.

Le Rendez-vous Cafe & French Pastry

Fresh pastries await visitors at this Las Cruces restaurant at 2701 West Picacho Avenue. Le Rendez-vous Cafe & French Pastry prides itself on simple French dishes, a variety of coffees, and delicious desserts – all paying homage to a family bakery in Southern France, according to its website. On the menu: eggs benedict or sweeter cravings like eclairs, cakes and an endless assortment of tarts. The restaurant is open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday to Sunday.

Le French Touch

A restaurant that fuses flavors from neighboring countries is located inside the Shoppes at Solana. Le French Touch pays tribute to both France and Italy. The restaurant offers crepes — delicate pancake-like wraps filled with fruit — and 14-inch pizzas with ingredients popular in the two countries. Le French Touch is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. inside the mall’s food court.
