If theres a question, i would toss that. Charcoal isnt THAT expensive.
Not worth the risk.

It’s fire treated, now.

The quality of their product is simply not worth the money.

Charcoal is made from hardwoods, which aren’t pressure treated. It very likely came from a hardwood sawmill that sells by-product to royal oak. Not a great look for them but it’s fine.

Even if not pressure treated how often is framing lumber hardwood in stead of pine?
sheebapat
Better than a beer can or concrete chunk I guess
starfishpounding
Grain looks like oak not #2 pine. Probably hardwood mill cutoffs.

better safe than sorry, but if it was treated, anything bad would have likely already burned out of it. again, better safe than sorry, but if it accidentally ended up in my cook, i wouldn’t lose sleep over it.
I swear it is the worst. I started out with royal oak because it was cheapest. Over 50% were tiny unusable slivers. Not surprised at all to see this.

There’s some royal oak rep subbed.. waiting for the bullshit, which is what royal oak is

Royal Oak is literal GARBAGE. I found insulation in my one and only bag. I have seen a ton of other pieces of garbage from others. There is a reason it is the cheapest on the shelf.

I found a Jaguar in my South American hardwood bag.

If there’s a stamped logo on it should still be able to see it.

I usually find rocks. Sometimes big ones. For a product sold by weight, that is theft.

Jealous Devil or Fogo. Can’t go wrong with either and both are a bazillion time better than Royal Choak.

No, just a Lil creosote, which is something my body needs anyway

After finding asphalt in a bag of royal oak I’ve never purchased another bag. Been using cowboy ever since and haven’t had any issues.
