Didn’t even know Saturday they work 24 hours. Thanks for the tip

  2. Ideally, I’m there with someone else, and we’d get:

    * 1 pastrami on rye to split
    * 2 hot dogs
    * 1 order of fries

  3. Huh, I did not know they were open 24 hrs on Sat (8AM Fri – 11PM Sun), that’s actually kinda nice.

If I ever go, which I don’t anymore, it’s just pastrami on rye w/ mustard (and as many pickles as they’ll give me). I don’t really get the point of a reuben w/ really good pastrami (and if it’s luncheon meat I’m not a fan of russian anyway, just sub that for mustard pls, but swiss and kraut are great).

These days my move is to walk past on my way from the F to Carnitas Ramirez, feel confused by the massive line of people, and then forget about them as I give myself the meatsweats from pork instead of beef.

I’m honestly really intrigued by the massive lines it’s drawing these days. These aren’t people that grew up on When Harry Met Sally, you’d have to be 50+ to have even been a teenager when that movie came out. Sure it’s famous, but like, why the upturn in people lining up for it? I don’t remember those lines from 20+ years ago when I used to be around there a lot more…

Half Sandwich/Soup Combo, every time. Maybe an order of fries if I’m feeling a lil spicy. Get an extra slice of bread, and you’ve got a full sandwich and a bowl of soup for like $25.

2 dogs with kraut and mustard with a beer, not a fan of the fries and it’s in another location so don’t even bother

  6. I go in the morning when there is no line, buy pastrami by the pound, and make sandwiches at home 🙂

  7. whaaaaaaaaaasssass

I gotta say I’m not a fan of their pickles. I feel like they bring little to the table.

  8. bailaoban

The pastrami Reuben was delicious but got too soggy. I would go with the classic pastrami + rye.

  9. Yanischemas21

Pastrami or corned beef depending on the day with a shitload of mustard

Once a year, usually winter or early spring to avoid as many tourists as possible.

    * 1 pastrami on rye to split, extra mustard
    * 1 order of fries to split
    * Rootbeer

  11. If you’re there with more than one, order the three meat platter. It’s a better deal and allows you to make multiple sandwiches. We usually do 2 pastrami, one corned beef

  12. Pastrami on rye with lots of mustard, half sour pickles, and a cream soda.

  13. BaetrixReloaded

i assumed that they only did pastrami on rye. it looks way better on the hoagie

Pastrami with mustard on rye, extra pickles on the side and a cream soda.

  15. Dropped in yesterday during the rain. No line. I’ve gotten pastrami sandwiches a couple of times over the decades but my go-to is a couple of hot dogs with mustard and sauerkraut and a knish as there’s never a line at the counter and the dogs are good.

  16. Rodman930

I always do Pic 3. The bread is more substantial and is pretty good.

  17. Suspicious-Beach-393

    Exactly that order lol

Throw in the matzo ball soup too

  18. Have my husband get in line for a cutter while I grab a hot dog with kraut, those pushcart onions and mustard. Share the dog while we wait for our Pastrami and Swiss on Club with mustard and full sour pickles.

  19. Yo you can get a different type of bread that looks better? Woah

  20. Foxesinfall

The brisket sandwich with just cheese and mustard.

  21. herseyhawkins33

I keep it classic: Pastrami on rye with mustard. Depending on who I’m with, maybe some knishes or potato pancake on the side. Then a can of Dr brown’s black cherry or cream. Can’t go wrong with their soups either.

Can never go wrong with a late night Katz’s meal. It’s expensive but absolutely worth it

  23. Sad-Performance-1843

Same order never club bread tho. Extra sauerkraut on the side

  24. A perfect spot if you went out in the lower east side. But I like a pastrami sandwich with just mustard.

  25. Split the pastrami with wife, matso soup and a knish

  26. El-Legend34

If you go to the one in brooklyn, there’s rarely a long line in my experience.

Usually I just get pastrami on club bread

  27. BaskingInWanderlust

My company insures Katz’s Deli. It’s my account. Best business meetings ever! Walk right in with a table reserved and eat anything I want. Yummmmmmm.

  28. butchudidit

Matzo ball soup is ass. Cole slaw was mid. So is the fries.

    My order

Pastrami on rye with mustard. Dont lose that damn ticket or the big guy at the door will charge u 50 (scam)

  29. contempt1

Pastrami on toasted rye (no soggy underside bread for me) with Russian and slaw. Fries. And if it’s the morning, eggs with pastrami as well.

i respect all the purists in the comments but if you haven’t tried their russian dressing, make sure you give it go once. they use their pickles in the sauce and the acidity/tang goes extremely well with everything. best russian i’ve had by a long shot.

one time i bought a container of it and used it with bodega sandos.

  31. Thatmixedone

How much does Katz sandwiches now ? Did they survive inflation ?

  32. Theairthatibreathe

An old friend of mine taught how to order there:
Fatty pastrami or lean corned beef. Different flavor, same ratio of deliciousness.

I ate there two days ago, and was not a fan
