The temperatures were near freezing and the wind was blowing, but that didn’t stop people from taking a walk for a good cause.

The annual Graysgiving event hosted by Terry and Erica Fredrickson from the Gate City Grays, took place at Sacajawea Park in Pocatello Saturday afternoon. T-shirts were handed out and then participants with two legs and four legs took a stroll around the park. Money raised from Graysgiving will go toward the Special Needs Christmas Dinner in December which is hosted by local civic groups.

“Any civic organization in this community, whether it be the Chubbuck Lions, the Bannock Civitans, the Rotary Club, they’re the glue of this community, right?” explains Terry Fredrickson, “they’re the things that make the wheels run. And they really are. It’s just it’s awesome to have the Chubbuck Lions set a day aside and say, ‘We’re going to show self-selfless service to people with disabilities and give them an awesome Christmas dinner.’ For some of those folks that attend that event they maybe won’t have a big Christmas dinner. So, it’s really awesome to watch these kind of things and then to have clubs like the Civitans that dedicate themselves to people with disabilities, Rotary and all of the good that they do. It’s just an awesome thing to be a part of.

The next Special Needs Christmas Dinner event is Bowling with Santa which is set for Saturday, December 7 at Tough Guy Lanes in Pocatello.
