Is the pattern of the braid symbolic of anything special, or primarily for pretty? I never did one so lovely as this, normally I just do a simple 3-strand braid.

I my mother’s best friend’s recipe, which contains eggs. The part that’s a bit different is that it has 3 rises/‘nocking down before shaping. It rises higher with each one. My mom and her friend said that the extra rises are the most important part.
