DELAWARE – Dunkin’ of Greater Philadelphia is donating $27,265 to the Food Bank of Delaware as part of its annual Roast Hunger program. The donation will be presented on Wednesday, April 2, at the Food Bank of Delaware’s Newark facility.
According to Dunkin’, funds were raised through Dunkin’s 14th annual Roast Hunger initiative, which ran from Thanksgiving Day through December 15. During the program, Philadelphia-area Dunkin’ franchisees donated $1 for every Large Hot Coffee purchased by Dunkin’ Rewards members.
Officials say the proceeds support regional food banks, including Philabundance, the Food Bank of South Jersey, Helping Harvest, Second Harvest Food Bank of Lehigh Valley and Northeast Pennsylvania, and the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.
As part of the event, Dunkin’ franchisees and employees will volunteer at the Food Bank of Delaware to assist with packing food boxes. Dunkin’s Philadelphia Community Cruiser will provide hot and iced coffee to staff and volunteers.
This year, Dunkin’ raised more than $300,000 through the Roast Hunger program. Since 2011, the program has raised over $3 million. The funds remain in the region to support local food banks.
The event is scheduled for April 2 at 9:00 a.m. at the Food Bank of Delaware’s Newark location at 222 Lake Dr.
Most recently, Delaware lawmakers are having concerns over a massive cut to the nation’s food bank supplies.
