I was really excited to try this sauce, especially after the relatively recent successes with the WcDonalds and Mambo sauces that both had really nice flavor profiles (even if not very spicy).

Man, I was so disappointed.

First, from a spice standpoint, this has a bit of heat, but it's not intense. Maybe a 2.5/10. That makes sense given that this is something they put in a happy meal.

The flavor is bad. It's like a watered down Cholula that was then mixed with whatever spices they had on hand and thickened with Xanthan gum.

But the worst part about this sauce is that it has this acrid chemical thing going on that straight up numbed my tongue. It's not the blissful numbing that happens with a really great spicy food. No, this was just… chemical. I had to stop eating it after the second nugget because the sensation was so unpleasant.

Let me know if you've had it and if you, too, had the same weird numbing experience.

  1. If you are looking for a tingling spicy feeling with your dipping sauce or marinade I’ve found that schezuan peppercorns ground up (works better if hand ground in a mortar and pestle in my experience) is perfect. I also usually add some of my fave flat iron chili blends and grind them in there as well. Then I add it to normal ketchup or Dijon mustard combined with a bit of mayo and honey and throw them in for my version of “schezuan mustard” pretty damn good imho.

Just had it today (actually checked the sub for any posts about it beforehand). Not my bag of tea.

It was so gross you had to stop eating it, but gave it a 4/10. Hmmmmm

  4. It’s not bad for a fast food spicy, maybe a 3-4 on heat. Flavour wasn’t too bad, but its a less is more sauce. Usually use 2 or 3 (bbq and sweet and sour mix) sauce cups for a 10pc. Used only 1 with this sauce.
