What’s up everyone, I hope you’re great! Today we made The Best Whipped Garlic Mashed Potatoes finished under the broiler!! It’s so cheap to make and packed with flavor, and cooking it at home, you’re in control of what you add to it 😃 Try it at home everyone and let me know what you think.
** Total cost around $4.50. Makes 10 full servings as a side. That’s only 45 cents per serving!
Ingredients:
4 pounds potatoes (golden Yukon or Russet)
1 stick of butter (extra for the end)
3/4 cup milk (whole ideally)
1 full garlic bulb (with around 1 teaspoon olive oil)
1/2 cup sour cream
Salt & Pepper to taste (less if using salted butter)
Fresh chives for garnish
Steps:
1. Set oven 350-400°. Prepare garlic bulb a) chop off top, peel outter skin. b) place on foil, drizzle with olive oil and somewhat tightly wrap. c) place on oven safe tray in oven 30-40 till soft and golden type color. d) once garlic is done, cloves should pop out easily, place them aside.
2. Peel potatoes and rinse potatoes
3. Cut potatoes into smaller even sized cubes
4. Place potatoes in your pot and fill with cold tap water 1 inch above potatoes
5. Bring to a boil on high heat then reduce heat for a continuous moderate boil for 15-20 minutes (check at 15 minutes. You want them fork tender)
6. Drain and return to pot.
7. Place back on stovetop medium-low to medium heat for 1-2 minutes and give a gentle stir to remove excess moisture. Remove from heat.
8. Add roasted garlic cloves, room temperature butter and milk.
9. Give a light mash to break up potato and garlic chunks.
10. Use your hand mixer with beater attachments to whip the potatoes to a creamy, butter smooth consistency (should take no more than 30 seconds. Be careful not to over mix)
11. Fold in sour cream.
12. Transfer potatoes to oven safe pan.
13. Set broiler 500-550°. Place in oven under broiler approx 7-9 away from top heating element for 4-8 minutes, or until the top becomes toasted to your liking.
14. Remove from oven and garnish with finely chopped chives and some additional butter!
