Turkish eggs or Çılbır (pronounced chill-burr) are a popular savory breakfast in Turkey. Poached eggs are served over a bed of garlic-infused yogurt sauce and garnished with a warm and spicy-ish butter sauce and fresh herbs.

  1. What the hell is "Greek Jogurt"? Are you Kidding? Can there anything be more Turkish then Jogurt? Even the word itself is Turkish. Oh my…

  2. Seperating eggs? Çılbır doesn't need that. Chef, you're overcomplicating the dish, every family cooks Çılbır but no one does that much of work. Its supposed to be a dish you can do in 5 minutes.

  3. You mention Turks eating this dish 500 years and you just discover this amazing recipe 2025 ? What can I say , Americans finally learn eating yogurt as a breakfast meal and it will take Americans to learn another 500 years what is delicious drink Boza or Sahlep is . By the way, drink your Turkish coffee after a meal not with your meal.
Thank you showing this recipe. Appreciate it very much.

  4. Showing an Ottoman dish and calling this yoghurt Greek is brutal 😂
The yoghurt was indeed invented in what is now Turkey

  5. "çılbır" is one of my favorite breakfast, but also you can eat for the lunch or the dinner. it always fits well. butter, chilli, dried mint sauce and yoghurt with garlic must have. (for the record, it is not Greek yoghurt, it is also Turkish yoghurt and called süzme yoğurt or kese yoğurdu. why everybody says " Greek yoghurt" i really don't know.)

  6. Greek yogurt? Yogurt is a Turkish word. It derives from the Old Turkish word yoġrut, meaning "solidified milk product." It is the main ingredient in many dishes specific to Turkish cuisine.

  7. Wash the outside of the whole loaf under water first and warm it, then slice add seasonings and toast.
Washing first adds Xtra interior softnesss as it steams into the interior makes it like super fresh baked

  8. Ottoman sultan =>>>>>Turkish yogurt 👿👿👿👿👿👿 Yogurt is turkish from cental asia. Was plato eating yogurt but Turks in asia were eating bec we turks are lactose intolerant👿👿👿

  9. Greek yogurt is an insult for a turkish breakfast when yogurt is all along turkish but westerners learnt it from greeks. And no surprise yogurt houmus doner kebaps and baklava are all greek naturally.

  10. first of all yogurt is an old Turkish word from central asia. It evolved from the old Turkish word yoġrut “solidified milk product”. This word is derived from the old Turkish verb yoġur- “to raise, to thicken” with the old Turkish +Ut suffix. Since there is no soft letter g (ğ) in the Western alphabet, it is written as toghurt.

there is no such thing as greek yogurt.

in Türkiye we make this recipe with “strained yogurt” which is thicker than normal.

  11. Too much vinegar! You only need a splash in the water, otherwise you get eggs that taste like vinegar.

  12. Yogurt: did you know that “yogunlasmak” means concentrated? Yogurt is a delicious Turkish food that’s been around for ages! The Greeks actually learned about yogurt from the Turks during the 450 years of the Ottoman Empire, along with some other tasty Turkish dishes, like baklava. It's interesting to think about the history and cultural exchanges behind our favorite foods!
