  3. What lovely recipes! I already lean towards eating this way. I would love to dive into them. But I have great frustration with them. I'm allergic to tomatoes, eggplants, sweet and hot peppers. This includes most nightshades. They blister my intestinal tract. I can eat potatoes once or twice a month without problems. It's lucky I can cook fairly well.
    I try to eat plenty of vibrant colored fruits to get those color rages in my diet. And I found that using tamarind paste can help mimic tomatoes in a recipe. But I've completely given up on buying cookbooks because I have to leave so many things out😮

  4. I’ve lost over 100lbs eating mostly Mediterranean style foods. I’ve kept it off for over a year, so far. I LOVE Greek salads!!! It’s still one of my favorite meals!!

  5. Yes, because most focus on the number of calories. And many doctors have already shown that it doesn't work, what matters is the quality of the food we eat, not just the quantity. And the impact of this food on our hormones, and these are the most important and decide whether we gain weight or not. The recipes of the Mediterranean diet are simple and unprocessed, which is why our hormones like them 🙂

I appreciate your tips surrounding things like not totally eliminating pasta, but instead use less of it but add more veggies. I have a question about the capers in the Avocado Toast and Puttanesca recipes. Do capers add nutritional value or are they included for additional flavor only?

  8. I love the Mediterranean way of eating that I began last month. However, I am a 64 year old athlete and I have been slowly losing weight without wanting to. I'm down about 5 lbs since I started, and I need that weight back. I actually lost some size on my arms. My bodyfat is somewhere in the 12-15% range. Perhaps I just need to bump up my protein by adding a good shake or something? I don't want to overdo it on the meats.

  10. I've lost 50lbs on low carb high protein over last year. I have not needed pasta or bread or any baked good so I guess I'm the exception to your statement about not enjoying your food if pasta/bread free. Of course I'm the one exceptional group no food dietician YTbers EVER think about it. We are always overlooked with a hidden disability- I have parosmia. I started to realise, after I lost my taste and smell then got some back where EVERYTHING I smell and taste is like the smell of feces, that eating pasta is a waste of time. It's a diet I wouldn't recommend because you lose weight but you also lose joy. Wish I could eat pasta dishes and bread because that means I could among others smell flowers, perfume, freshly cut grass too.

  11. Dies it have to be sourdough? I make bread with high protein/high quality flour, salt, yeast and water. Just can't love sourdough.
